Single anterior tooth-replacements – implant-supported restorations

Implant-supported single-unit crowns, in general, represent a reliable treatment option for the replacement of missing teeth with favorable outcomes in terms of high implant survival rate and stable peri-implant marginal bone levels. Nevertheless, in clinical scenarios with limited bone volume and/or mesio-distal space of the edentulous area, implant placement can be challenging and alternatives for prosthetic rehabilitation may be considered. The lecture will discuss prerequisites for predictable implant therapy with focus on young patients with congenital missing teeth or trauma-related tooth-loss in the esthetic zone.

After the lecture you will be able to:

  • identify candidates for implant-supported fixed dental prostheses to replace teeth in the esthetic zone
  • recognize clinical situations where adjunctive procedures are indicated before implant therapy can be considered
