The importance of oral hygiene and maintenance care in post antibiotic era

The emergence of antibiotic resistance makes it ever more important to reduce the risks of infections. And with the clear recommendation of minimizing the use of antibiotics, which strategies should we apply to reduce the risk of infections in our patients.

First part of this workshop aims to address:

  • What is clean enough?
  • Which tools should we use?
  • Are there differences in the different stages of periodontal therapy?
  • How important are pre- and post-operative plaque control in both periodontal and implant surgery?

Second part of the workshop will bring some case examples and through case discussions we will learn to establish routines to help the dentist/hygienist in the day to day practice.
