The power of bone regeneration

Bone augmentation in the area of the jawbone offers the extraordinary possibility of a true biological regeneration of newly formed bone tissue. As surgeons, it is our task to create ideal conditions for this exceptionally dynamic bony tissue during surgery. Knowledge of the biological potential of hard tissue augmentation techniques, careful case selection, strict inclusion criteria and high surgical skills have been recommended to achieve pleasing aesthetics. However, the reasons for tissue loss of regenerated bone after implant placement are multifactorial and remain highly controversial. Understanding the mechanisms that promote stability and integrity of bone tissue dimensions over time will facilitate future innovations in tissue regeneration, surface technology and treatment approaches to enable predictable aesthetic success in implant therapy. The aim of the presentation is to assist clinicians in making comprehensive treatment choices to be successful in bone regeneration.
