Session 3

Managing the elderly with new implant types and approaches

Fixed or removable: What are the considerations for fully edentulous patients, especially when they are elderly?

What contribution does the digital workflow make to a less invasive and more efficient treatment process?

How can the expectations of challenging patients be managed and met?

Meet the patient

Robert is 80 years old and in reasonably good health, although a little frail. He has had complete dentures in both arches for 35 years. His lower denture is loose and he now finds it difficult to eat and cannot always speak clearly. On top of that, he is a little stressed at home as he looks after his physically handicapped wife who is hard of hearing. Robert wants to know if dental implants can help him, and what the options are. He is concerned about costs and needs a solution he can afford.
