Dr. Franz Strauss

Dr. Franz Strauss graduated from the University of Finis Terrae, Chile in 2010. He completed his two-and-a-half-year residency in Periodontics at the University Valparaiso and his Master of Science in 2015 at the University of Chile. In 2017 he moved to Vienna for his PhD training at the Department of Oral Biology at the Medical University of Vienna and since September 2019 he has been serving as a Research Assistant at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry, at the University of Zurich. In 2020 Dr. Strauss was appointed assistant Professor at the University of Chile. His main research focus has been bone regeneration, conducting basic, pre-clinical and clinical research, publishing more than 40 publications in the most renowned international peer-reviewed journals, while serving as a reviewer for several journals in periodontics and implant dentistry. Moreover, he edited and contributed with two chapters in the latest edition of Lindhe`s Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. More recently, his research interest has focused on how to translate evidence into practice in a patient- and clinician-centred way. Dr. Strauss has been recipients of several research grants either as a principal investigator or co-investigator, including ITI, ORF and Osteology Foundation.
