Bilal Al-Nawas is a maxillofacial surgeon with a medical and a dental degree. He is Chairman of the Department of Oral, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery at the J. Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. He is Adjunctive Associate Professor at Kyung Hee University School of Dentistry, Seoul, Korea.

Professor Al-Nawas is a member of the ITI Board of Directors, Chair of the ITI Research Committee, and Education Delegate of the ITI Section Germany. He was twice awarded “Best Teacher at the Medical Faculty”. He is a Past President of the International Federation of Dental Anesthesiology Societies (IFDAS) and Secretary General of the German Society of Implantology (DGI).
