Fahad Umer

Dr. Fahad Umer is an accomplished Endodontic microsurgeon with a strong background in dental surgery. He earned his FCPS from AKUH and was recognized as the Best Resident of the Department of Surgery. He holds a Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and recently graduated in Endodontics. Dr. Umer is the Director of ITI Karachi Study Club.

As an Assistant Professor in Operative Dentistry and Endodontics at Aga Khan University Hospital, he imparts knowledge to postgraduate students and has received a Fellowship from the higher education academy (FHEA) for his teaching excellence.

Dr. Umer's interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has led to peer-reviewed articles focusing on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for diagnostics. He aspires to develop an ensemble model capable of detecting diseases and anatomical locations, such as periapical pathology. He faces challenges in dataset availability but is creating an open-source O.P.G dataset for researchers.

His dedication to AI's potential in healthcare aligns with his goal of establishing a center of excellence in Artificial Intelligence at his university. Dr. Fahad Umer's expertise and commitment to advancing AI in dentistry and diagnostics make him a notable figure in the field.
