Professor Baqain is the Vice President for Scientific and Health Schools at the University of Jordan (UJ), the oldest and largest university in Jordan. He is a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UJ and a Senior Consultant at Jordan University Hospital. He was re-elected Vice President of the Arab Board for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member on its Specialist Training and Examination Committee. He examines for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for the Membership and Fellowship examinations. He was the Dean of the School of Dentistry at (UJ) and the Director of the Department of Dentistry at the University Hospital. He is a reviewer and a member on the editorial board for peer reviewed journals with more than 50 publications in international peer reviewed journals.

Professor Baqain was a member on the Executive Board of the Jordan Medical Council, served on the Higher Specialist Advisory Committee for Dentistry, and on the Specialist Training and Examination Committee in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Jordan Medical Council. He was also a member on the Council of Deans of the Society of Arab Dental Faculties. He was an elected Executive Board Member on the Jordanian Dental Association Council for two terms and elected Vice President of the Jordanian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
